Being (queer bodies) together

Being (queer bodies) together is a monthly evening of bodywork, sharing practices and simply, being together. Each evening has a theme which we explore together. You are encouraged to participate in the whole series, but are also welcome to join for one evening.

After our pilot-phase we are happy to announce that we will continue with our project. We have planned a workshop during the Utrecht Queer Culture Festival October 3rd and two blocks of 4 monthly session from November 2026 till June 2027. This time you can reserve your spot via booking a full block or by buying an individual session.

The sessions take place on Thursday evenings form 19:15-21:30. Doors open at 19:00 and start at 19:15.

Season opening 4-10-2026: Being (curious bodies) Together

We open the new season with a 3 hour workshop during the Utrecht Queer Culture Festival on Sunday 4rd of October from 10:00-13:00. Registration will  open soon. Want to stay in the loop? Send us an e-mail: josje@lichaamstaal-utrecht.nl

In this (introduction) workshop we invite you to join us to discover together different systems of our bodies. We combine somatic body work, with massage techniques and moving and explore together the exciting world of our inner and outer bodies. This workshop is open to people that have already joined our previous session and invite new people to meet our work. For a deeper connection with your own body around other bodies.

The evenings are hosted by Lux Sauer (he/him) and Josje Fens (she/they). They both have a fascination for bodywork. Lux as a dancer, choreographer, somatic practitioner and student of Body-Mind Centering®, Josje as a massage therapist, teacher and student of Cranio Sacral Therapy.

Lux: „I am fascinated by how everything has its place and function in the body. There is no hierarchy or control system. But it is a huge collective collaboration with different responsibilities“

They have a desire to share their knowledge and connect with other queer people through somatic bodywork and movement. That is how these evenings came to life.

Josje: “I am fascinated by what your body tells  you when you take the time, slow down and learn to listen to it. Letting these stories and feelings emerge is so beautiful.”

Come and join us to connect, explore and be together.

Companions/assistants are very welcome, including service dogs. We welcome babies to our space.

The sessions are offered in English, with Dutch, German, French translation on request. Our events are generally spoken in English.

☞ About donation:
For orientation a fair fee to ask would be around 40 euro for one session. We like to ask you to estimate for yourself what you can donate according to your income situation. Here are three categories as orientation: 1) Supported rate: for those with no / low / unstable access to income 2) Course rate: for those with stable access / sufficient income to provide for their needs 3) Supporting rate: for those with stable access to income, inheritances, savings, institutional support.

☞ Hands-on and touch:
The focus of these sessions is to raise awareness of our body’s intelligence. To this end, we introduce and use different types of touch to increase awareness, stimulate different body parts and connect with others. This includes self-touch and touching other bodies. Before we use touch, the facilitators will describe its quality and intention and show an example. Clear rules and set agreements will be established before touch is introduced, given and received. There will be alternatives provided (e.g. self touch, observing the exercise).

☞ Self and community care:
Please support yourself by attending the personal care that you require and by utilising the support around you. You are encouraged to bring an accountability buddy, or connect with someone during the session and practice together afterwards.

We offer various exercises in which participants can experience the topic on different levels. We also offer different ways of verbal exchange, so that we can express ourselves in a large group or a smaller, more intimate one. You can always choose to join  or observe.

☞ Feed-back and learning:
Please contact us with any feedback you might have. We are learning every day, and wil have our own biases. You can come to us at the event, or send an e-mail.
